Change is an inevitable part of life, it is also something we often fear and resist. As your therapist I assist you in activating your motivation and developing skills to guide you through the process. Whether your motivation is coming from a personal or relationship crisis, a long term difficulty, or simply the desire to create a better, happier future - I use therapy as a guided exploration toward solutions and the development of skills necessary for creating change. Learning WHAT, and HOW to change is at the core of my training, experience and my approach to therapy with clients.
It's not uncommon for a person to feel a great deal of apprehension and reluctance to begin therapy - the stigma of having "mental or emotional problems" continues to be interpreted as weakness and inhibits many of us from asking for help... sometimes until we are quite desperate... and miserable.
I've worked in a variety of mental health capacities since 1991, including hospitals, prison systems, foster care and private practice. I developed specialized programs for court systems and provided organizational training. I look forward to working with you!
