Emotion focused therapy helps couples & individuals who have become disconnected in their emotions gain insight into their negative cycle. In therapy the couple or individual will have a better understanding of how the cycle plays a role in triggering negative emotional responses. The therapist helps guide the couple or individual into new emotional experiences deepening connection and understanding. This new emotional experience creates a stronger bond and a new felt sense of connection.
As an Emotion Focused therapist my role is to help a couple's and individuals learn to understand their negative cycle of engagement and help them understand the underlying emotions causing the reaction. The goal of the therapy is to help couples experience more vulnerable emotions.
