I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 35 years of experience in the Mental Health field. My experience includes treatment for Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and relationship issues. My practice includes working with the LGBTQ+ population, as well those exploring their sexual identity and preferences. I have worked with individuals and families who experience challenges related to adoption. A large part of my practice is via Telehealth, but I do offer in-home assessments in the Athens, GA area.
The primary treatment modalities I use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),motivational interviews, and Mindfulness practices. My approach in therapy is Person-Centered, meaning that I have a great capacity for empathy and respect for where you are right now in your life.
It is very important to me that I approach each individual with "unconditional positive regard" (C. Rogers), without judgement, and with acceptance. While I take my role as a therapist very seriously, I also value the role of humor in the healing process, when appropriate to the situation.
