As a systems oriented psychotherapist, I believe that we are connected to and affected by those around us. Our families of origin, communities,cultures,workplaces and families of choice impact our lives and sense of self. Relationships and experiences we have had in the past influence who we are and how we relate to the world. To live with the greatest joy and productivity we must heal past relational traumas and bring to consciousness effects they have had in our lives. By doing so, we are free to make thoughtful choices about how we live our lives and relate to others.
In working with eating disorders I employ a number of models within a framework of a bio-psychosocial perspective. Family systems, Psychodynamic, Feminist, 12 step, Non-Diet and Cognitive Behavioral. I also work with other health care professionals as needed: nutritionists, M.D.'s and alternative health practitioners.
