We spend our whole lives learning to communicate. Some of us have been taught to withhold our emotions as children & we sometimes find our adult selves struggling to express the emotions of how we truly feel. I work with adults who seek to understand how the conscious & unconscious subtle nuances of what was modeled to us as children often shapes the way we interpret our relationships with others and ourselves. Do you find yourself trying to save or "fix" people & neglect your own needs? Do you worry about past failures & struggle to see the strengths of who you are because you're so focused on those mistakes?
Are you a First-Generation American or First or Second Generation professional who seeks to manage unique stressors associated with finding a balance between the demands of caring for parents & extended relatives in addition to recognizing the need for self-care without feeling guilt or shame? Do you need new coping skills to parent oppositional teenagers?
I use a strengths & resiliency approach in building relationships with my clients who may have struggles with anxiety, mood disorders or attachment traumas which are some of my specialties. I incorporate humor, psychodynamic reflection, spiritual social work & polite honesty in sessions with my clients. Homework is also given for further skill development.
