I began my career as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) later in life, and I have great passion for the work I do with my clients. I have 6 years of experience as a therapist for children/teens, adults, and families. I have worked in out-patient, school-based, in-home, and community settings. With younger children and parents, I often employ the principles of Parent-Child Interactive Therapy, focusing on child-directed and parent-directed play. For family therapy, I use a relational approach that is based on positive communication, mutual respect, and active listening skills.
I have a strong background in trauma and in providing services for at-risk youth. I offer counseling for mood and personality disorders, grief and loss, separation/divorce and blended families, as well as for medically based diagnoses, such as ADHD, fibromyalgia, and regional pain syndrome.
My style is person-centered and eclectic, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused interventions. I also enjoy providing group therapy for children, teens, and adults, and I believe that each group is an opportunity for growth, connection, and validation.

Tari Lyn Getz's Groups

Young Adult Group

The transition from the teen years into young adulthood can be challenging. Some struggle with the finer points of self-care, budgeting, and gainful employment. Others may be overwhelmed just trying to decide what comes next. Some have plans for further education or training that don't go as expected. But the challenges we face individually are less daunting with the support of peers. We come together to offer advice, to gain insight, receive support, and to laugh and enjoy ourselves on our journey toward empowerment and self-discovery.
