Are you stressed, anxious, or depressed even though life seems great to others? Do you sometimes feel like your thoughts are controlling you instead of the other way around? Have you tried every suggestion and self-help book you could and nothing makes a big difference or lasts? If so, you are not alone and working collaboratively with you, I can help. I work with clients to increase their well-being, achieve goals, and better manage life's challenges. I know you have the innate capacity to heal old wounds and manage new difficulties -and by working together, we can renew those skills and install new, fresh, and effective ones. Healing comes from within but sometimes is elusive. The therapist's job is to provide direction, an objective ear, and compassion on the road to experiencing more freedom and joy in your life. I specialize in treating individuals who feel overwhelmed by the high stress of living in these demanding times either due to past trauma or current life challenges. Either way, I am here to collaborate with your best self and bring that self front and center. I provide HIPPA compliant online therapy as well after an initial visit for those residing in VA/MD.
A note on trauma: Trauma comes in many forms - chronic and acute, sexual and combat, childhood and adult. Trauma doesn't have to be "big" - sometimes its the daily stress or old habits that keep us stuck. I have had great success in treating these and believe I can help you to heal. I have extensive experience with young adults in transition and combat veterans (both active and retired) as well as victims of sexual assaults.
I am certified in EMDR, a highly effective method for the treatment of trauma. I combine this with mindfulness and meditation methods as well as CBT/ACT to help individuals heal fractured sleep, soothe their injured brains, and find a way forward through daily anxiety and depression to peace.
