About
Hi my name is Tanya Freedland and I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and the founder of the ARCS Institute. I specialize in online video-based individual therapy and I work from a recovery orientation that focuses on what you want for yourself in your life and how we can overcome the challenges and barriers you face together. I believe that everyone has their own path to recovery and there is no "right" way to heal from substance use problems. I also rely on research to enhance our collaborative process by utilizing a non 12-step, cognitive behavioral approach that incorporates evidence based skills and strategies.
I have specialized expertise in treating co-occurring substance use disorders and serious mental illnesses including; schizophrenia, psychosis spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder. As a researcher and trainer at the U of M, I have devoted my career to understading and developing treatment for co-occurring illnesses.
I want to work with you to help you overcome the distress and barriers in your life and continue to work toward your goals to acheive the life you want to live. If you have been struggling with substance use on and off for years, are reaching out for the first time, or you want ongoing support after completing a treatment program, I am here to support you.
