Hello, my name is Tanner Taggart. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist. I believe that for someone to be able to progress in therapy they must feel comfortable with the person that they are working with. That is why my first goal in therapy is help those I work with feel cared for and comfortable. My approach to therapy is a combination of emotional focused and experiential therapy. I also draw on my knowledge in cognitive behavioral therapy, along with my background in trauma and family therapy.
I am a very relational focused therapist. I help a person see how they are connected with those that they are around in the world. I believe that if a person is struggling to connect with those around them, they are likely to struggle in many other areas of life.
During the first session I like to get to know those that I am helping on superficial level along with the therapeutic level. I like to know what those I am working with are struggling with and how they hope to change. I also like to know if there is anything that they have done in the past in therapy that has not worked, and they are not comfortable with.
