Hi, Tammy Snyder, LPC/MHSP, NCC. I use numerous approaches in therapy. When meeting a client and understanding their struggle or concern; I conclude which theory would best serve the client. Regardless of the method, I try to create a warm and comforting environment for each client. I use various approaches in sessions ranging from Trauma Focus, Talk therapy, Narrative-based, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Psychodrama, Psychodynamic, and Solution-Based therapies. There are other uses, but I ensure, each client's sessions are individualized based on their goals and needs.
I am an authentic clinician who listens, guides, and challenges my clients. I collaborate with my clients because we are a team. I would like my clients to feel they can communicate their true thoughts and feelings without being judged.
In the first session, the client and I will discuss the normal flow of the upcoming sessions. I will allow the client to ask me questions, allowing the client to become comfortable. I will also find out some of the client's interests and what has worked for the client in the past and vice versa. Lastly, discuss common concerns and housekeeping items.
