Hello, my name is Tami Heflin, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, young adults, adult women and moms who have experienced perinatal or postpartum challenges. I am a registered play therapist and do utilize play and art in my approach for children and adults who have been exposed to trauma or simply need to find an expressive outlet as an adjunct to traditional therapy. I work with ages 6 and up and I work with parents of younger children who need support and tools for parenting difficulties that are causing stress in the family unit. I also work with foster and adoptive parents. I am most comfortable treating depression, adjustment disorders due to life transitions, and generalized anxiety.
Once I became of aware of my challenges and could name them and learn how to control my thoughts and feelings, I vowed that I would seek to help other children and adults who struggle with overthinking, depression, and low self-esteem. Knowledge is power and there is so much to be learned about self-love, self-awareness and self-care.
