Change is challenging, whether one seeks it or it just happens. I help adult and adolescent clients deal with roadblocks to their desired changes, including difficulties with depression, anxiety, fears, addictions, obsessions and compulsions. I also help them cope with--and adjust to--unwanted change, including deaths of friends or family members, and job, relationship or pet losses. I work collaboratively with clients throughout their transitions, using the approaches and tools that are most useful to each individual.
Sometimes behaviors intended to manage stress get out of control and cause greater problems. I have specialized training and experience working with eating disorders and behaviors that interfere with a healthy approach to food and exercise. I have served eating disordered clients in an intensive outpatient program as well as in my private practice.
I enjoy helping adolescents and young adults move toward a healthy independence, and assisting mid-life individuals and couples in managing transitions in career and relationships. My past experience in the legal and publishing industries ensures my familiarity with the challenges of work dynamics and pressures of a professional environment.
