I have been providing counseling and supervision services in the Mid-Michigan area for 20 years. I am trained in all areas of professional counseling, including grief and loss, depression, anxiety, life changes, and relationships. I use professional and evidence based techniques, and strive to help clients find meaning in their lives, with no judgement about how they get there. In an atmosphere of grace, clients are able to identify what they need to feel whole. I have special training in Christian Counseling for those who wish to apply Biblical principles to their life choices and desire to change unwanted behavior.
I also have special training in the area of substance abuse disorders and am knowledgeable in helping people work the 12 steps. I emphasize gathering a full picture of individuals by exploring their family upbringing, as well as, cultural practices that have led to the creation of their current personalities.
I believe that people benefit the most from counseling when they are provided with a non-judgmental, humanistic approach. My counseling style is empathetic and direct. In my practice, I strive to help people achieve present moment living, believing that the present moment is the meeting place between ourselves (personality) and our soul (spirit).
