Since 1999, I've worked with children from ages 4 through 19, as well as parents. At some point in life we all become overwhelmed and find ourselves struggling to keep "it altogether" or just making through the day. These feelings affect our emotions, behaviors, and attitude. A lot of young people don't understand their feelings, much less, know how to handle them. Adults, get overwhelmed with adulting & often take it out on a loved one. Talking with a counselor helps you relieve stress, helps you understand your feelings and work through your problems to find solutions and become a better YOU.
I don't have one specialty or one counseling method. People aren't the same; therefore, one method isn't conducive for all. I integrate various techniques such as, solution-focus, CBT, person-centered and play therapy. Play therapy techniques are utilized with young children, activity based with 10 & up, and talk therapy with young adults and parents.
Life isn't easy! We experience fun, good, hard and sad times. Sometimes we feel as if we "can't take it anymore". If you are struggling or feeling anger, fear, or sadness ask for help. A Counselor is a great place to start. Talking thru problems with an empathic, nonjudgmental & caring therapist, often helps us move through rough times & live again!
