Dr.. Shokek is a psychologist with expertise in treating eating disorders, trauma/PTSD, dissociation, and depression. She has been practicing psychotherapy for twenty years and has been in private practice in Towson since 2014. She completed two year-long predoctoral internships: The first in inpatient eating disorders, the second in college counseling. After earning her doctorate from Widener University's Institute for Graduate Clinical Psych, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Sheppard Pratt's Trauma D/Os Program. She has worked extensively with college students and mental health professionals.
Dr. shokek works with her clients on examining how past experiences influence current functioning, including expectations from others and oneself. She encourages her clients to have empathy for themselves in order to empower them to move from their painful past to a thriving future.
Please note: Approximately 90% of my practice is VIRTUAL - video and phone sessions. To schedule a new patient appointment, please call my work cell phone at 202-308-3668. Sessions start on the quarter hour. Please note that I only treat adults ages 18 and up. My clients only pay their deductible/copay/coinsurance and I bill their insurance for the rest.
