Trauma can create contraction, fragmentation, and stagnation. It can be experienced emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically. It is held in the nervous system due to its inability to process and integrate the experience of something happening "too fast, too soon, being too much or lasting too long." Dr. Peter Levine, the founder of Somatic Experiencing, states that "Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathic witness." My main focus is to help you feel safe in your own body and learn to regulate your nervous system in the here-and-now.
Somatic Experiencing works with our physiology to release stored survival energies, process memories and emotions through talk and bodily sensations. Through decades of practice, I have cultivated a deep attentive presence. Slowing down, we tune into the nuances and wisdom of the nervous system with emphasis on safety and resource to support this deep work.
By supporting the mind-body connection we can enhance a sense of self-awareness, self-love and create space for embodied corrective experiences.
