In the words of Mr. Rogers, “Play is really the work of childhood." I see kids who have prenatal, preverbal, or early childhood trauma; attachment and behavioral issues; or struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and anger. I will work with you to create a flexible treatment plan tailored to your child's individual needs, using techniques like prescriptive play therapy, filial therapy, expressive arts, sandtray, geek therapy, and attachment-based activities to directly address and heal the impact of stress on the body and brain. I help identify the reasons for children’s behavior and healthier ways to meet those needs.

I am also trained in Animal Assisted Play Therapy®. AAPT often forms deep connections in a way nothing else can, because it provides comfort and builds relationships. My approach is holistic, culturally sensitive, and strengths based, giving children a chance “to engage in a therapeutic process that values them as creative, resourceful, and whole.”

Counseling is not always easy, but it can be fun! Therapy is a safer, nonjudgmental space to process big emotions, try new things, and explore and grow. My therapy style is creative and somatic; I utilize expressive arts, play therapy, animal assisted therapy, sandtray therapy, dancing mindfulness, and geek therapy. I help clients find coping skills that work on an individual basis, and establish healthier patterns. In the first session we explore clients' hobbies and interests to decide what creative arts and geek activities we'll do together. These could include drumming, dancing, painting, sandtray, video games, board games, anime, etc. We also talk about how to incorporate Animal Assisted Therapy into the goals. My therapeutic style tends to be directive while still empathic, and sessions are very active.
