My name is Suzanne Walker. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical addiction specialist in the state of North Carolina. I use CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Reality Therapy, and Supportive Therapy among other treatment modalities. My focus areas of practice are Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, LBGTQ+, Addictions, Life Transitions, and Trauma. My most commonly used theoretical approaches in sessions are CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindful techniques, Reality Therapy, and Supportive Therapy. In some sessions, I use only one approach, and in others, I use several approaches.
I have always wanted to be a therapist. I was told not to pursue Psychology, because I would never be able to support myself. I was directly impacted by September 11, 2001. I decided that it was time for me to do what I wanted to do with my life.
In 2002, I started my master's Program in Counseling Psychology. Seeing clients making positive changes, doing well, succeeding, and living their best lives is what drives me to do this work.
