I work with adults and older adolescents who are dealing with issues related to depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, relationships, achievement and success, chronic illness, transitions, early attachment problems, self-esteem, addictions, betrayal, and general problems in living. I focus on self-acceptance and growth rather than on pathology and "change." I believe we are all in this together; I take the journey with my clients rather than thinking I know what is best for them. I think questions are often more important than answers. My motto is: Less judgment, more curiosity.
My overarching therapeutic orientation is Gestalt therapy (see www.gestalt.org/yontef.htm for a good introductory description). While all Gestalt therapists focus on the body (as well as thoughts and emotions), I specialize in the use of various body techniques, such as movement, touch, and attention to breathing.
As co-developer of the Impostor Phenomenon theory, I work with people who fear they are not as bright or capable as others think they are and are often worried they will be "found out." I also integrate the Enneagram into my work.

Suzanne Imes's Groups

Women's Group

This is a well-established group of women from ages 45-65 who deal with personal, interpersonal, family, and work-related issues of every variety. We emphasize addressing feelings and thoughts that arise in the context of the group as a microcosm of habitual responses and patterns of experience.

Women's Group

This is a very lively and committed group of professional women who are dedicated to working deeply to address and eliminate the barriers that prevent them from living as fully and vibrantly as possible. We do individual and interactional work, addressing psychological as well as spiritual concerns. I co-lead this group with Michele Truxillo, LCSW

Young Women's Group

In this lively group of Millennials we delve into anything and everything--childhood issues; relationships with mates, spouses, parents and siblings, friends, co-workers, bosses, and even pets; career and work concerns; achievement issues, such as The Impostor Phenomenon; addictions in self or significant others; anything else; and mainly, how to become who we really are given familial, social, and cultural pressures to the contrary.
