Hello, my name is Suzanne Matson, I bring a diverse background and 20+ years of experience to my work as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am dedicated to the use of client-centered, evidence-based models of counseling. My goal is to create a trusting and non-judgmental relationship through warmth and empathy, insight, curiosity, and creativity! We will identify together - the areas of growth and understanding that will allow you to accomplish your goals and bring about your desired growth and change.
Knowing, Being, Doing! These are the 3 areas that we look at to approach goal setting! Each of these areas impact and inform the quality and functioning of the others. If a client is feeling overwhelmed with anxiety, I will provide psychoeducational information in the KNOWING area to help them understand how their brain works creating the anxiety cycle.
My goal is to provide my clients something meaningful and encouraging during their first session, in addition to conducting a thorough intake and background history. Every first session is unique to the client's needs, I always recommend writing down anything and everything on your heart and mind beforehand so that we can keep track of what we didn't get.
