Hi! My name is Susan Shafer and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist. I provide a calm, and non-judgmental space to explore concerns and struggles. My specialty areas are in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, and depression. For the first twenty years of my practice, I utilized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as my primary modality and have become very passionate about mind/body therapies (EMDR and IFS specifically). I have seen amazing results utilizing these modalities.
I work with adults aged 18 and up. I have done a lot of work with young adults and love the growth mindset this population tends to bring. I also have a lot of experience with middle-aged and older adults and enjoy all the perspectives and life experiences they bring.
Individuals find me very calm, compassionate, and open. As a client of mine, I am never going to tell you what I think you should do as I know at your core you have that answer but will work with you to explore whatever is blocking your sense of clarity or confidence. I work in partnership with individuals as opposed to directing what I think is best.
