About
My lived experience as a primary and long-distance caregiver coupled with 20 years of counseling experience provides me with the foundational knowledge, clinical experience, and compassion needed to validate and empower clients serving as caregivers for family members living with a chronic or terminal illness; often without the support needed to maintain their own mental health wellness. More specifically, I counsel middle-aged women who are considering or are now serving as their parents' primary caregiver—a role-reversal few are prepared for especially if there is a history of unreported sibling physical and sexual abuse.
I practice from a strengths-based framework coupled with a blend of feminist, dialectical, and cognitive behavior therapies. Working with your existing strengths will help you understand the ambivalence you struggle with, and compel you to live your life the way you want, and not how others want. This is hard work but necessary especially for caregivers.
Let's work together to find what feels right for you. I can help you decide if being a caregiver is in your best interest. If it is not, I'll help you find options. If serving as a caregiver is the way forward, we’ll work through your history of abuse so you can fulfill this challenging role by setting firm boundaries with those who failed to protect you.
