Many people seek therapy when they are experiencing significant stress related to unexpected life events or challenging transitions. At other times, it may be because they are discouraged by difficulties in their relationships, careers and family dynamics. In any of these situations, anxiety and depression may be present and recurring.
I work with clients in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis to address both immediate and long-term concerns that get in the way of attaining one’s personal goals and maintaining a general sense of well-being and possibility.
In my work with couples, I find it most productive when both members feel safe to open up about topics that have been difficult to discuss. Often, recurring stressful interactions are related to family histories and trauma. Couples therapy can lead to a deeper understanding of what each person brings to the dynamic and fosters insight, empathy, and change.
I offer a unique combination of training and experience in couples therapy, individual psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis. I am a board-certified psychoanalyst, a graduate of Ackerman Institute, and have a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work. I am on the faculty of the Psychoanalytic Association of NY (affiliated with NYU Medical School). Licensed in NY and CT.
