I have been in the field for over 40 years, and previously on the faculty, Yale School of Medicine having worked in a wide array of settings with individuals, couples, families and groups including teens - older adults and in prevention/health promotion. People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons - relationship problems, loss, feeling stressed, weight management - the list is endless and personal. I work to develop a supportive, trusting relationship and help guide people to more clearly understand what is troubling them, to move toward living more satisfying and productive lives.
Trained in a psychodynamic, family systems perspective with cognitive and behavioral approaches (e.g., stress management strategies including diet and exercise as a way of dealing with the effects of stress). I work with people in context - understanding current interpersonal and intrapsychic conflicts within an historical family systems and organizational perspective.
