I have been in practice in New Mexico for 23 years, treating depression, anxiety, relationships, and life changes. I am continuing to do video and telephonic sessions for individuals. I like to use a listening, supportive stance with clients to help them feel comfortable in talking about their problems. Some of the techniques I use are mindfulness, regulating emotions, relationship skills, tolerating distress, and mind/body techniques. I believe that therapy works, and is worth the time, effort, and money you put into it.
It has been shown that trauma can occur developmentally as a child grows up and can be exhibited as physical and emotional symptoms, and can interfere in maintaining relationships. There are mind/body techniques such as Somatic Experiencing to treat this kind of trauma.
Trauma can be stored in the body and can be released gradually using body centered therapy.
