Choosing to see a therapist is not always an easy decision. It is often hard to imagine sharing difficult, painful or shameful feelings with a stranger. As an experienced clinical psychologist, licensed in Michigan and Indiana, I believe that therapy is most effective when it is a collaborative effort, in which client and therapist work together to know and understand the strengths and challenges that confront the client every day. Therapy is the work of knowing oneself and then setting out to manage these discoveries effectively.
Therapy provides support to you as you move toward understanding, change and acceptance. I work with clients to discover the subtle influences that affect their lives. I also work with families, and with parents regarding more effective methods of parenting. As our population ages, I have placed a special emphasis on the ill and/or older client, as well.
Suffering with sadness, worries or guilt is not something that you have to endure. Sharing these thoughts and feelings with me in a welcoming, safe environment can reduce your burden and bring more balance and understanding to your life.
