Therapy is a collaborative effort. I am present to accompany, listen, and reflect. I work with a broad range of individuals. I work effectively with clients who are going through a divorce, the death of a significant person, chronic family illness, job changes, abuse or domestic violence. With over two decades as a school counselor, I particularly enjoy working with children, adolescents and their parents. Clients can expect focused attention, quiet acceptance and honest feedback in a private space where they can clear their thoughts and feelings, sort through fears and pain, and redirect their lives.
My work is eclectic, drawing upon different therapeutic modalities including play therapy, filial therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy, depending upon individual needs. I believe children want to learn and gain social acceptance, and parents want to be in, and are fully capable of, loving relationships with their children.
Since I grew up in Mexico City, I am both bilingual and bicultural; I work with clients in Spanish or English. I am experienced in school practices and programs: Special Education, 504, Title I, Bilingual Education, ESL, and others. My northwest Austin office is easily accessible from Highways 183, 620, and 45.
