Brittni Adkins, LCMHCS, is our practice owner and Clinical director. She holds a Master’s of Arts degree from John Carroll University in Clinical Mental Health. Further, she is currently pursuing ongoing certification in forensic counseling for the juvenile justice system. Brittni operates from a combination of Person-Centered and holistic approaches utilizing more innovative evidenced based counseling tools and techniques. Her counseling experience and background include child and adolescent mental health disorders including, developmental trauma, ADHD, social issues, gender identity issues, and bullying.

My approach to the collaborative effort of psychotherapy is influenced by structural/strategic family systems theory, informing the process of joining with clients to clarify their roles in relationship, family, and community. Creative engagement in experiential learning assists individuals, couples, and families in gaining a fresh perspective through focused work that brings lasting results. I endeavor, in every client relationship, to de-mystify the daunting prospect of change, empowering personal choice in difficult circumstances through guided self-exploration.

I truly enjoy working with families as they work together to address the health of their family system. I am energized working with adolescents with ADHD related issues. I feel passionate and genuinely capable of working with individuals, couples and families through queer related issues. Lastly, I am well versed and experienced working through supporting others through their unique grief experience.

People come to me for support with worries, mood difficulties, adjustment to life changes, identity exploration or relationship issues, and to learn ways to both change and adapt. Whatever brings you to this process at this time, it’s important that you find someone you can develop a sense of safety and trust with in order to bring your full, authentic self to the work. The therapeutic connection is a huge part of successful therapy, so my work is first and foremost relational in nature, through which I help you define your goals and together develop a plan to meet them.

Taking new clients. For the last several years, I've worked with military service members and their families. I'm a Veteran myself, though I've worked with a wide variety of people. I work with adults, couples, families, adolescents and school age children. Areas of specific expertise are trauma, addictions (addicts and their families including adult children of alcoholics) GLBTQIA issues and parenting. I focus on empowerment, helping you to find the strength to accomplish your goals.
