Greetings. I appreciate how difficult it can be to choose a therapist and wish you the best in your selection process. My aim is to work with clients where there are, with the strengths they have, and in the manner they feel most comfortable. I believe people are doing the best they can with the tools they have. The thing is, sometimes the tools we have are inadequate for the job. That's where therapy can help. I try to give my clients new tools to tackle persistent problems in new ways.
My theoretical orientation is 'psychodynamic.' It means that I look for patterns in client's lives that aren't working, and turn this insight into newer, more effective patterns of thinking, relating, and feeling. It's been shown to be a well established, validated method for helping people get better.
I offer therapy for clients aged 8-55, and also conduct psychological evaluations for county juvenile departments, the State of Oregon, school districts, and individuals.
