Grief and loss can leave you feeling shattered, as though you will never experience joy again. Life losses take many forms (death, job loss, relationship loss, etc.) and it's difficult knowing where to turn for help during these times. Another difficult loss is familial estrangement. The latest YouGov poll states that 38% of adults are estranged from someone in their family. People become estranged for many reasons, the most common reasons are abuse, betrayal, and manipulation. I have worked with many parents and children on this issue and they have found it helpful, especially towards reconciliation if possible.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist, I have over 20 years experience in the area of grief and loss, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, women's issues, adolescent issues, and estrangement. I also specialize in suicide loss and have published a book for survivors of suicide, "Finding Your Way After the Suicide of Someone You Love."
When you are struggling with life's issues you want to talk with someone who has life experience and who has experienced some of the challenges you are facing. Finding a therapist who understands is key to making positive changes and having a positive counseling experience. I welcome your call and the opportunity to talk with you further about your needs.
