I am a licensed psychologist specializing in treating high achieving adults who seek to heal their relationships with anxiety, trauma, grief, and addiction/substance use.
Do you long to be free from the traps of perfectionism, self-criticism, and unhelpful overcontrol? Do your go-to strategies to "get rid" of your emotions feel unsustainable? I will help you clarify your deepest values, even in the midst of challenge and uncertainty. Whether you want to set boundaries, use your voice in relationships, or develop a more flexible and compassionate perspective, you will be empowered to take action, with a sense of purpose and agency. You will learn to view your emotions as wise communication from the body, without letting them overrun your life, and embrace your full, evolving identity.

With families I assist with communication, conflict resolution, mediation, and substance use interventions.
My approach to therapy is dually focused: I offer evidenced based interventions that teach skills and concepts to help you better manage emotional and mental discomfort. I also focus on insight, so I like to explore the deeper self, your existential curiosity, core beliefs, and values. I have found this approach can increase resilience, foster healing, and allow growth. I am collaborative, encouraging, and enjoy incorporating laughter and humor into sessions when appropriate.

I’ve counseled in the mental health field since 2014 and specialize in treating co-occurring mental health and substance use/behavioral disorders.
My greatest desire as a therapist is to offer a space where you feel seen and heard in your entirety as a human. My hope is to develop a relationship that is completely judgement free, safe, authentic, and sincere so you can dig deeper into understanding the "why" behind self- sabotaging behaviors and thought patterns. Whether you've struggled with a recent tragedy, a relational challenge, anxiety management, depression, substance use, or just need a place for expression- I am here to offer my expertise and walk alongside you at a pace that is right for you.

As a counselor credentialed in both mental health & substance use, I'm able to work with a variety of issues including those entangled with drugs, alcohol, or other addictive patterns—whether you're seeking help with total sobriety or harm-reduction approaches to moderation.
“I need to change, but I don’t know how.” If you can relate to this phrase, you aren’t alone. There are so many reasons we stay stuck: Anxiety, fear, trauma, substance use, unsupported ADHD, and unsupportive relationships, and so much more. There is nothing wrong, defective, or broken about you. You’re doing your best with the strategies you’ve learned, and you deserve the opportunity to explore even more in the safety of an understanding and supportive relationship. By better understanding the "why", we begin to learn the right "how" when it comes to growing and thriving in life and relationships.

In the context of substance use "Harm reduction values life, choice, respect and compassion over judgement, stigma discrimination and punishment" I’m confident that together we can work to help equip you with the necessary tools to help you face and overcome challenges.
Are you feeling not right in your body or as if you don’t belong to the gender you were assigned at birth? Are you afraid to come out to someone you love? Did your partner or spouse tell you he/she/they are transgender and you are left with confusion and fear? Are you a parent of a child who came out to you and identifies as LBGTQIA and you don’t know how to process your feelings or take a deeper look within? Do you use substances and feel stigmatized by being called an “addict” with no hope for support? Do you use substances and are not ready to stop, but want someone to talk to that will accept you where you are at?

I also work with substance use disorders and have extensive experience working with clients with serious mental illness such as Schizophrenia and with their families.
In my therapeutic practice I seek to motivate clients to build the brain they want rather than feeling stuck with the one they have. By harnessing the power of cognitive restructuring, we can excel at tackling complex issues like dealing with stress, managing emotions, changing habits, controlling impulses and navigating complicated relationships in the same way that we would get better at any other skill; through dedication and practice! I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy techniques and skills to help clients set and achieve their own therapeutic goals and try to instil a sense of hopefulness and resolve in every session.

Hello! I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate (LSWAIC). I had the privilege of completing both my Bachelors in Psychology and my Masters in Social Work at the University of Washington in Tacoma. Go DAWGS! For the last 7 years, I have assisted folks in navigating various barriers surrounding their mental and physical health needs. I have been called a “resource guru” due to my ability to find a resource for everything. Once I completed my masters degree, I worked in community mental health, where I was able to adapt my skills to best support the needs of my clients through navigating mental health tools.

I have extensive experience helping navigate issues in Parenting, Relationship Challenges, Relational Trauma, Substance Use, Chronic Illness/Pain in the individual and family, Mood Disorders, and Acute/Complex Trauma/PTSD.
The goals of therapy are directed toward providing a positive and collaborative forum to ease presenting difficulties; and draw on the individual's strengths and resilience to enable greater contentment and satisfaction in life. The foundation from which I view issues is from a systems approach. Thus, my focus is on the relational context that each individual resides within. Additionally, I borrow ideas from Attachment , Emotionally Focused, Cognitive-Behavioral, and EMDR constructs when tailoring goals developed for each person's unique needs.

Substance Use Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
