I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), with basic training in EMDR for traumatic experiences, and substance use disorders.
While life ebbs and flows through times of serenity and times of darkness, we often find ourselves questioning our abilities to cope, think, and even function. Frustration and feelings of inadequacy rush in, which can quickly break down our self-esteem and feelings of worth. People may begin to think, "Why can't I just relax? I used to not be like this. What's wrong with me?". These mood and anxiety obstacles, while disheartening, are common conditions that can be relieved through counseling, where we challenge cognitive distortions and biases we have towards other people, our environment, and ourselves.

It is important to be listened to and heard. Maya Angelou said, “At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.” I understand that, the daily experiences of life, the difficulties of work, relationships, and personal struggles at times feels like too much. Having a place to share is very important. Thus, I seek to provide a safe and warm environment for you to express yourself and find comfort. I’m a compassionate listener who will collaborate with you to manage the challenges that life seems to throw your way, while helping you achieve your stated goals.

I am an LPC in TX and have experience working with depression, anxiety, substance use, relationship issues, eating disorders, suicidality, self-harm, trauma, and life stage adjustment issues.
I view life as a journey during which we are always changing and adapting. I believe that various life changes and traumas impact how we interact with our world, and a persistent disconnection with our world and with ourselves leads to a less fulfilling existence. I practice counseling from a systems-perspective, and I believe that our lives and our issues must be viewed within the contexts of our inner and outer environments.

I have 15 years of experience in depressive disorders, anxiety, substance use disorders, domestic violence concerns, anger issues, life changes difficulties, women issues, gender identity issues, adolescent issues, marriage/couple issues, and family issues.
I love helping clients find ways to cope with their depression and anxiety. Hopelessness and helplessness are two emotions that are damaging if not acknowledged and addressed. Everyone experiences some form of somber mood but when this mood is not addressed, it easily turns into a disorder that can be very hard to cope with on a daily basis. I want to help you with coping with this debilitating illness. It can be defeated but only through work. I have the tools to make it work for you.

I have special interests in working with those struggling with anxiety and depressive disorders, dual diagnosis, spiritual issues, substance use disorders, boundary issues, conflict resolution, interpersonal skill-building and bipolar disorder.
Being a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas for many years, I have enjoyed a type of therapy that allows an individual to find freedom through acceptance of their issues rather than running from the reality of their existence. As we come to understand our past and how it has shaped us, we can then begin the practice of choosing differently for ourselves in the present and for our future. This search is a sacred process where therapist and client join together, rather than a therapy done 'to' you as a client. I would like to join in that process with you!

Life does not come with a manual. We have all faced life’s challenges, with some being more difficult than others. These challenges have shaped who we are and how we interact with the world around us. However, we can work together to change the outcomes of these experiences, build coping skills, and empower you. I am not just another therapist -- I truly enjoy seeing my clients grow and improve. As long as someone wants to work on themselves, I will be there along the way.

From as far back as I remember, I have possessed the desire to truly know the depths of the people I met. Every person has a story and I find their stories so compelling - the joys, hardships, adversities, struggles, and passions. Life will throw all types of hardships we never imagined. In my own life, I have faced my own challenges of depression, anxiety, loss, and loneliness that required guidance and care from others. We all need relationships that provide support and wisdom to assist us during troubled times when we feel lost. My joy is to provide this path of growth to others because I have benefited so much in counseling.
