My goal in the therapeutic process is to allow individuals to explore in a supportive, collaborative manner. I incorporate person-centered therapy where clients have the ability to process, create goals and ignite change into their lives, whether that be mentally, emotionally or spiritually. I enjoy working with individuals who are 16 and older that may be struggling in areas that include anxiety, relationships, substance use, life stress, trauma and other areas that may be found during the journey of therapy.

I am an experienced clinical psychologist and supervisor, well-versed in telehealth; I am also an Active Duty Veteran and currently serve in the PA Army National Guard. We have a staff providers who are well trained and available via telehealth or in-person. Patient populations of focus include Veterans, Military, and First Responders. Additional areas of expertise are other public safety activities including treatment of patients who are justice involved, those with substance use disorder, and providing evidence based care for trauma, depression, stress and adjustment issues, as well as relationship and marriage concerns.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor that has experience working with people that suffer from substance use disorders. My ideal client is someone who wants to identify behavior change as it relates to substance use disorders either in themselves or in a family member. I am a credentialed interventionist in long term recovery. I service clients in the Philadelphia, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, and Delaware areas. I am a full-time Assistant Professor in Messiah University’s Graduate Counseling Program. I also works part-time as a clinician and am the owner of Courageous Hope Counseling LLC. I identify as an immigrant woman of Indian decent and have lived in several countries. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Elizabethtown College, a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Shippensburg University, a doctoral degree from Shippensburg University in Counselor Education and Supervision. and a postgraduate certificate in Social Justice from Harvard University.

Working in co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment, over the past two decades, has allowed me to witness change when offering hope to people during challenging times. Lauri King is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has been working in the drug and alcohol field since 2009 in various clinical, supervisory, and administrative roles. Lauri currently works with adults experiencing substance use disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, and adjustment disorders.

I have experience with various diagnoses and have worked with clients aged 8 and above. I specialize in trauma disorders, substance use, abuse and dependence, dual diagnosis and borderline personality disorder. I offer different treatment modalities to address symptoms and core issues relating to these issues.

I worked with children and adolescents in a school based program as well as with adults in a community day program. Later, I began specializing in addiction at an inpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility. Most recently, I have been at an inpatient psychiatric hospital prior to moving full-time into private practice. I work with both individuals and families to address mental health and substance use concerns.
