Danville Counseling Center is dedicated to serving the emotional and mental health needs in our community. Our office is located in downtown Danville and houses ten qualified mental health professionals. Our staff specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, addiction and helping you recover from traumatic experiences through the use of progressive treatments including EMDR and TF-CBT. At Danville Counseling we believe in treating the whole person by coming to understand the stressors that are taking place and helping you build resiliency and coping skills to improve overall wellness.

I work with individuals, families, couples, and adolescents facing tough challenges, transitions, and growth opportunities. I have over 16 years in practice with experience treating general mental health issues, substance abuse, co-dependency, trauma and grief. I work from a solution-focused, person-centered approach and address not only the individual in therapy, but their family unit or family of choice. I believe that individuals have the strength to create meaningful change in their lives, and as a helping professional, I offer support, facilitate and witness that change in a positive, friendly and collaborative way.

I believe that we all have an authentic self and much of the internal conflict comes from living inauthentically, which develops into maladaptive behaviors. There’s “the way it seems” and “the way it is,” and sometimes we all need someone to remind us of “the way it is.” That’s where I come in - my goals are to work TOGETHER with you to navigate a new path toward living your most authentic life and finding inner peace and confidence to be that person.

Michael Hiser is a Marriage & Family Therapy Associate, Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Circle of Security Certified Facilitator. As an advocate for the under-served he loves working with individuals and families as well as youth who struggle with addictions. A Christian minister with an open, caring and respectful manner that is very welcoming to hurting people. Women who suffer from compromising relationships find Michael to be a breath of fresh air. He creates a safe and warm atmosphere for working through tough issues and problems in a variety of situations.
