All of us, at some point in our lives, are going to experience a significant emotional struggle. Whether individual or relational, we all encounter sometimes brief, sometimes longer, periods where our struggle may begin to feel overwhelming. My practice is founded on treating clients with a comprehensive psychosocial approach. Most individuals realize medication can temporarily retard the progress of symptoms through symptom reduction. Alone, medication cannot resolve the personal issues associated with long term increases in quality of life. I believe my best professional strengths are an abiding respect for the individual coming into my office, and a reliable resource to explore, educate and inform persons about critical life issues.

All humans have inherent worth, yet a lack of self-worth is at the core of all emotional pain. I use a narrative approach to allow clients to share their story as they see it, and then help them change their story to better meet life goals. Self-defeating behaviors created throughout one's life to cope with difficult situations, such as trauma, gender identity and a lack of validation, can be changed when identified and understood. I join my client on their journey to become the person they desire. I have received training specific to the Foundations of Transgender Health to help my practice of affirming gender equality.

Change can be difficult, but often necessary. It is important to realize that change is only possible when an individual is truly motivated to make the effort to grow. Therapy provides a person with empathy, encouragement and understand on how to change negative patterns. The relationship between client and therapist is very important so that each individual can feel comfortable to be open. My focus is improving overall brain and overall health to assist with those issues that may repeatedly cause a person to feel stuck. This includes talk therapy, neurofeedback, diet and nutrition, exercise, sleep hygiene and environment.

Anxiety can cause you to feel uptight, impact your ability to stay focused, and it can make the simplest tasks feel completely overwhelming. Teachers, athletes, performing artists, students, businesspersons, etc.; are not exempt from normal human emotion! Maybe you're a baseball player and can't get out of your hitting slump. Maybe passing a test makes or breaks the blueprint you currently have for your life. Maybe your daily performance is hindered and you cannot seem to dig out of the rut. These feelings of fear, uncertainty, anger, and utter lack of control and direction can be crippling.

Most of my work involves creating secure attachments in romantic or family relationships. As humans we are biologically wired for connection so when our close relationships are strong, we feel loved and at ease. But when we feel disconnected from the people we love the most, we often feel frustrated, anxious and alone. Emotionally Focused Therapy is specifically designed to create new cycles for bonding so your relationship becomes a safe haven for you and your loved one.
