My ideal client is a person who wants to succeed in life, by becoming aware of their mind, body and spirit interactions and how to utilize this awareness in their intimate relationships. Their issues can be improving their self esteem, overcoming past traumas, and developing their emotional, intellectual and sexual connections with others. If you strive to have better relationships and/or safeguard your current relationship, I can offer you the understanding and techniques of how to do so. I can do this without years of therapy, in a short term focused way that addresses how to overcome struggles fast and effectively.

The Psychotherapy and Counseling Center offers psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families. Our director, Zoia Sizgoric, LCSW, has over 20 years experience in helping others just like you reach their goals. We focus on your strengths and offer support and guidance to help you overcome difficult times in your life. We provide treatment for depression, anxiety/phobias, trauma, domestic violence, ADHD, behavioral problems, anger management, eating disorders, difficulties at work, and marital or family problems. We also make referrals to community psychiatrists as needed.

I specialize in working with first generation individuals and families to help you better understand yourself in relation to culture, values and expectations throughout your life cycle. I understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with navigating the feelings of belonging and not belonging to a culture, and its impact on one’s sense of self. Using a trauma-informed and narrative approach, I help clients understand and heal from the effects of generational trauma and family enmeshment, while also helping you forge a relationship with your own unique story.

I am a therapist who understands the importance of building rapport with my clients. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC Level 2). I have a Masters of Education in mental health, addictions, and marriage and family therapy. I have worked with families, adolescents and adults for over the 10 years in a variety of settings. I typically utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems Therapy.

The goal of therapy is to assist clients in achieving an increased sense of independence. To learn to act rather than react and approach life not as victims but as survivors. I have a BA and MA in Forensic Psychology, as well as an MA in Forensic Mental Health

I am an empathetic listener whose passion is to help individuals, couples, and families work through conflicting emotions and life circumstances. The main theories I use are Gottman Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I encourage my clients to become their best selves by using the principles most suited to help them on that journey.

She graduated from Long Island University School of Education and Counseling and has obtained several Post Graduate degrees from numerous Universities (Hofstra University, Mid America Nazarene University, Capella University, and Alfred University).
