I believe people can change, because I see it daily with my clients. I believe it because I lost over 130 pounds. My specialties include couples counseling, grief and loss, and trauma. I also have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. I know therapy can feel intimidating. Before becoming a therapist, I was a client and worked with a therapist on ways to improve my quality of life. This experience taught me what clients need. I know that the client/therapist relationship is the most important aspect of treatment. The better the relationship, the more healing that occurs.

As your therapist, we will process anxiety, depression, past traumas, reroute negative behaviors, & learn how lived experiences impact the way you view the world currently. My clients often seek therapy because they are wanting to uncover the meanings behind their emotions; together, we are often able to uncover the meaning behind these emotions by better understanding past traumas encountered. Only then, can we replace negative behaviors that have stemmed from these traumas, together. I provide a safe & genuine space for LGBTQ clients & practice from an inclusive & client-centered perspective.

I have been in the fields of mental health and substance abuse for over 20 years. I enjoy working with all populations. In trying to navigate through substance abuse and mental health issues, there are many factors that envelope a person's ability to cope with life. I understand that asking for help can be difficult and identifying a need for change can induce some fears. I can help you identify any changes that are needed and offer encouragement and support through your journey of self preservation.

I enjoy working with persons from all different walks of life. I work with individual, couples, families, and children, but particularly feel a passion to work with persons who are struggling with new transitions in their life such as grief, trauma, divorce, and relationship conflicts. I have worked in community mental health with individuals, couples, children and families with various diagnosis such as ADHD, ODD, trauma, depression, anxiety, conduct issues, and school based related issues. I also enjoy diving into theological conversations leading to liberation, strengthening one's faith, and helping integrate faith, spirituality, and relational health for those interested.

I am passionate about supporting black men, women, and couples on their healing journeys. I specialize in addressing the unique challenges of men and women by providing a safe space for exploration and growth, with the overarching goal of helping US navigate issues such as identity, relationships, grief, transitions, and more. I enjoy helping married and non-married couples build love maps, establish trust, build a communication fortress, and create shared meaning. My position as a therapist involves fostering self-awareness, and empowering clients to develop effective problem-solving skills.
