Greetings! My name is Janece and I am here to provide individuals and families with a safe and supportive place to work on sensitive concerns. I believe that change comes from commitment and dedication to improving oneself from the inside out. When individuals are able to regain control of life trouble, there is a tendency to feel better mentally, physically, and spiritually. I have my Doctorate of counseling psychology (PsyD), am a licensed professional counselor - supervisor (LPC), registered play therapist - supervisor (RPT-S), a nationally certified counselor (NBCC), certified dependency counselor - I (CDC-I), and a master addictions counselor (MAC).

I am dedicated to helping people overcome personal challenges, establish healthy balance and achieve lasting change through mindfulness-based approaches. These practices are very helpful for clients faced with issues such as anxiety, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress symptoms, depression, relationship/family issues, stress-related physical problems and life transitions. I have provided counseling services for over 35 years to children, teens, and adults and customize therapy to meet your specific needs and goals. To that end I have trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques, in the belief that no one size fits all.

My scope of practice includes addressing and processing distress, depression, anxiety, and other issues impacting my clients' daily functioning. I also assist clients facing critical stage of life transitions, including terminal illness, grief, and loss. Additionally, I pursue ongoing trainings so that I can continue accompanying clients exploring a variety of relationship issues and conflicts - whether in their marriages, parenting efforts, or the full range of relational dynamics and daily challenges.

Experiential Play Therapy is a model of play therapy with a strong belief in the child’s quest for health. Only the child knows their particular perceptions of their life’s dilemmas. Therefore, in Experiential Play Therapy, the child is allowed to be the director of the play. In that process, they will utilize toys and their own creativity to recreate their experience in an environment that enables them to approach their struggles so that they are able to regain the power that has been lost in the actual event or environment. The therapist becomes a partner in the child’s quest, assuming whatever role the child requests.

It is my privilege and passion to walk alongside those who are healing from trauma, complex trauma, abuse, anxiety and depression. Grief and loss, grappling with spiritual, personal identity & various complex issues are the result of traumatic experiences. I firmly believe respectful, culturally competent and trauma informed approaches create space for you to become empowered to not just survive, but thrive! As Jonathan's focus has been a systems approach to families, he is educated, qualified and committed to working with individuals, couples, and families. His approach to therapy is collaborative and strengths-based. Jonathan values the relationship between client and therapist, and sees it as key to driving growth and change. Jonathan uses his passion for mindfulness and body awareness to facilitate exploration and expression. Jonathan strives to help his clients live a more meaningful, fulfilling life, whether this means conquering internal struggles or facing issues with important people in their lives.

I work with individuals across the life span who are struggling with a wide array of difficulties. From adults dealing with anxiety and depression, to kids and teens struggling with low self esteem and experiences of trauma, I partner with clients on their individual path to healing and wholeness. I am passionate about working with individuals and families who are open to learning about themselves. People usually come to therapy when things are going badly or feeling out of control, so the beginning stages are about defining the issues as well as strengths. The client and I act as a team through our working relationship, to focus on positive change and growing insight about their lives. Self confidence increases, communication skills improve, and willingness to value perspectives of others are important milestones in the therapeutic process.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I specializing in the areas of trauma (sexual abuse, physical abuse, maltreatment, PTSD), anxiety, depression, self-esteem & identity, and couples and family work. I have experience working with children ages 3 and up, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. When working with couples I utilize the research and theories of the Gottman Method developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman to facilitate reconnection and strengthen communication. I find it is important to use empathy, respect, compassion, and authenticity to form a genuine, trusting relationship with all my clients.

I like to work with families, including children of all ages. I also work with individual adults and occasional couples. I also like to work with military families. I am also trained in EMDR therapy and have even tried some of this therapy style with adolescents. I am also trained in perinatal mood disorders.

Roxie Powell is a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (MFT-A) who works within a humanistic-experiential perspective. Roxie enjoys working with a broad spectrum of clients including children ages 5+, adolescents, individual adults, couples, and families. Roxie is passionate about relational counseling and uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) as her primary approach to working with couples and families to transform their communication style.
