Life's journey is rough. Not every path is smooth or easy and many are difficult and even dangerous. There are times we need someone to walk with us; perhaps help us find a new direction. Having someone that understands because he's been there, makes all the difference in the world. In addition to working with couples and families, he enjoys bringing hope to men. He understands the struggles men face. He shares life and relational skills, including: developing problem solving skills, overcoming depression, reducing anxiety, having victory over addiction, growing through life development stages and recovering from the symptoms of trauma.

I recognize and respect the courage it takes to begin counseling. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate environment in order to work on identified issues and bring about hope, peace and well-being. Common concerns addressed in counseling include: play therapy, stress management, relationship issues, life transitions, grief, anger and attachment, and mood disorders. I work holistically, focusing on emotional, relational, spiritual, physical, and mental well-being. Counseling theories utilized include cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal process, and mindfulness.

My ideal client would be those searching for ways to overcome trauma that they have experienced in their life, as well as those struggling to experience a strong, healthy marriage that is based on supporting one another. I also would love to help support parents looking to strengthen their relationships with their children and implement healthy strategies that help build stronger families by working with the entire family towards a place of healing.

**ACCEPTING CLIENTS**. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia providing psychological therapies to adolescents, adults, and couples. My primary focus is in the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, dual diagnosis, grief, adjustment, and relational problems. My background includes clinical work, case management and training in the medical, educational, social service and therapeutic settings. I am experienced providing assessments and clinical services to children, adolescents, and adults. I also have experience treating those with medical challenges, grief and loss.

I am a firm believer in evidence based treatments and have extensive training and practice in such. That being said, I recognize that "evidence" is usually based on outcomes of clinical trials with very controlled environments where very specific populations with very specific diagnoses are treated. Thus, I find that I am most effective when adapting, integrating and tailoring treatments to my clients' individual needs.

My counseling experience includes treating adolescents, adults, and couples. My practice is highly individualized to address common symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I treat my clients as unique individuals with their own distinctive concerns impacting their lives. I greatly honor the trust I am given by them to help them navigate difficult times and unexpected life changes. I believe the decision to start the journey towards healing and reconciliation demonstrates a great deal of courage and resolve.

Life can be overwhelming and emotional when children and adolescents are struggling with mental health concerns and challenges. Trauma leaves feelings of anxiety, depression, worthlessness that can make everyday interactions a struggle. Individuals need to feel safe, secure, feel valued and have a sense of belonging to fully participate in their lives. Treatment options should focus on their developmental stage, strengths and values. Building self-esteem, confidence and self image is the first step to healing.

My work and passion surround helping others and getting to know a variety of people. I specifically enjoy working with adolescents, teenagers, and supporting their parents along with providing therapy to young adults both women and men. I have had the pleasure to help and to clinically support those in the community and surrounding counties for 19 years. I specialize in supporting college students in boosting self-esteem, and finding confidence, along with learning coping strategies to maintain routine for each semester.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia and provide individual counseling to adolescents, young adults, and adults. My primary focus is in the treatment of depression, anxiety, social anxiety, phase of life issues, ADHD, trauma, and issues related to college-aged students. I have experience providing community-based and school-based counseling to at-risk youth and their families as well as working in a college counseling center.
