My ideal client would be at a place in their life where her spiritual journey matters to them, as well as making sense of all that went before. Sometimes, but not always, they will be a dream journaler who has paid attention to their dreams in the past couple of years, if not over their lifetime. They may have an interest in symbology and the meaning of the symbols that appear in their dreams.

I take time to clearly understand each client's problems, goals, and preferences, and then we work together to develop a treatment plan specific to these needs. Based on my experience, clients need to know that their problems are fully understood. When this occurs, they oftentimes feel that their problems are truly validated. Also, when a treatment plan is geared towards someone's specific needs, this offers hope and motivation for change. Clients have repeatedly given me the feedback that (1) I truly understand their problems and (2) I collaboratively work with them to develop tools for addressing their difficulties.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from James Madison University and my Master's degree in Mental Health from Eastern Mennonite University. I have experience working with youth and families who are involved with foster care and adoption, youth who had physical, sexual and abusive trauma histories as well as children with attachment issues. Hello! I am Amanda Casius and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in adolescents and adults.. I work with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma and transition issues. My job as a counselor is to assist my clients in reaching their goals. I want my clients to be in control of their life versus their symptoms and struggles being in control of them. I believe we can all reach our goals and live a fulfilled life, we just need a helping hand to clear the path and see our way a bit better.

There is never a wrong time to start therapy, nor is there a right one. We won’t worry about right or wrong, but instead we’ll accept where you are - as we work together to discover where you want to go and how to get there. I spend a lot of my free time hiking, seeking out new and interesting terrain. The growth you will hopefully experience during our work together may be much like a challenging hike, with some gentle slopes and triumphant summits, but also with trips, stumbles, and strenuous climbs. I cannot climb your mountains for you, but I will climb them with you and help to show you the way forward.
