Do you find yourself overwhelmed with stress or worries in your daily life? Is it having an impact on your work, relationships, or how you feel about yourself? Often, we can manage stress on our own, but other times, it's helpful to seek out a therapist for support. In therapy, we can work to improve self-awareness and understand our reactions to triggering events. We can learn specific skills to help with stress and coping, practice new ways to think about situations, find courage to make important decisions, and adjust our behavior in ways that may lead to more positive outcomes.

We all go through difficult times in life when we feel stressed or unfulfilled. Sometimes we are able to manage challenges on our own and other times it can be beneficial to talk to a professional. It takes courage to reach out for support. You may be struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, or low self-esteem. Therapy can help you manage intense emotions, feel more confident, foster deeper connections in relationships, and thrive in your professional pursuits. With a non-judgmental and caring listener, you can overcome obstacles and accomplish the changes you want to see.

I work with individual clients and specialize in anxiety related concerns, identity exploration, identity-based stress and trauma, intergenerational cultural conflict, family/relationship concerns, and general life transitions.
You may feel constantly distracted from the present moment or like you’re on autopilot. Our minds often hand us thoughts that are distressing and it’s very easy to become wrapped up and stuck in them! I enjoy working with folks to disempower negative thoughts and get back to the things and people that are important to them. Together, we’ll work on developing a more compassionate and non-judgmental understanding of how your relationships, culture, and oppressive experiences have shaped your behaviors. By reclaiming your narrative, we can forge a path towards meaningful change that's rooted in your values.

Waitlist for new clients
Vibha "Minnie" Thukral: My clients desire to gain insight into their behaviors and relationship dynamics - in a work/school setting, with their families, friends, romantic partners, & themselves. They want to learn how to cope with symptoms of depression, anxiety, and chronic stress, while being true to themselves. My clients need a non-judgemental space to explore their values, identity, and purpose in life. They may want to heal from their upbringing, whether that means they come from an immigrant family, a family with a history of mental illness & trauma, and/or a dysfunctional upbringing.

With individuals, my approach to therapy is based in cognitive-behavioral theory, but also flexible and pragmatic, depending on the individual’s needs. With couples, I primarily utilize the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy, and provide strategies to enhance effective communication, strengthen trust, deepen intimacy and manage conflict.

Is life becoming too difficult, or is stress wearing you down? You are not alone. Millions of adults in the United States are affected by anxiety and depression yearly. Have you been living with OCD going without treatment? OCD can be debilitating and difficult to manage, but you do not have to live a life burdened by these problems. As a clinical psychologist, I have specialized training in evidence-based approaches such as CBT and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to treat anxiety, depression, stress, and exposure and response prevention, a first-line treatment for OCD.

While I practice as a generalist, my particular areas of interest and expertise include sexual orientation, gender-related issues, grief/loss, body image/eating disorders, anxiety, depression, mindfulness, stress management, relationship dynamics/difficulties, adjustments related to life transitions such as aging and parenting, spirituality, and questions of identity and purpose.
It takes admirable courage to seek fuller understanding of ourselves and our struggles and to risk new ways of living. I provide a trusting, respectful setting to examine concerns thoughtfully. My approach is empathic, warm, and marked by compassionate curiosity about one's difficulties and beneficial ways to address them. I emphasize increasing awareness of the issues in question and developing coping responses that are useful, intentional, and aligned with one's needs and values. Successful psychotherapy is challenging, rewarding work aiming toward deeper self-awareness, genuine and fulfilling relationships, and consideration of situational factors that contribute to difficulties.

While attaining my doctorate degree, I completed comprehensive research on Iraqi War veterans diagnosed with PTSD and the impact posttraumatic stress has on a soldier's social, emotional, and cognitive functioning.
Change, no matter how necessary it may be, is never easy. I create an open and supportive environment which allows individuals to feel comfortable in sharing their personal stories. I help empower individuals to set healthy goals and gain personal insight. I offer patience, support and constructive feedback to help individuals become more aware of their needs and to teach people the skills needed to make positive and adaptive choices. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy which allows me to tailor treatment to a person's needs in order to assess difficulties, set realistic goals, and to evaluate progress.

In therapy, people learn how their early and current relationships affect them in everyday life - including the way they handle stress and anxiety.
My approach to counseling is to be warm and supportive. I strive to provide a safe and trusting environment. I incorporate elements of CBT, ACT and DBT to provide individual therapy for clients who are currently attending DBT or CBT group. Together we address harmful thoughts and behaviors that lead to depression, anxiety and substance use.

Treatment specialties include: anxiety, depression, relationship issues, LGBTQ, sexuality/identity questions, anger management, grief/loss, post-traumatic stress, and adjustment/readjustment difficulties.
Life can be overwhelming and sometimes we get "stuck" and need help navigating our way through tough obstacles. Therapy helps people identify, evaluate and solve problems effectively. We will work together to set goals, examine difficulties and find realistic solutions that provide relief and clarity. I utilize a warm interactive approach to treatment and incorporate empathy, honesty, and a sense of humor to create a comfortable environment. Because the way we think impacts the way we feel, individuals are taught skills to identify, challenge and modify negative thinking. In my work with couples, I provide strategies to improve communication, manage conflict and solidify trust.
