Are you struggling with disconnection, loneliness, depression or anxiety. In an age of mass social media. In a time that is considered the most socially connected. Research shows that people actually feel more lonely than ever, disconnected and lost. Do you feel anxiety that is keeping you from following your dreams and holding you back? You do not have to go through this struggle alone. Therapy is a great way to work on you and becoming the best version of yourself. I would love to help you start that journey and walk through it with you.

Have you felt things should be different in your life? Do you feel like everything you do is just leading you in the wrong direction? Have you felt depressed, anxious, or just generally low energy most of the time? This can be very difficult, and it’s common to feel this way. Unfortunately, many people learn to just brush these feeling aside expecting them to to go away. This can lead to a build up of difficulties, which can cause more frequent episodes and lead to long-term problems. If your goal is to rise above these feelings and thoughts, have you thought about therapy as a solution?

Life is worth living when we feel authentic and genuine, and engage in meaningful relationships. Sadness, grief, disappointment, hurt, and loss are all-natural human emotions. Feeling chronically anxious, depressed, inadequate, or unlovable are not. These unrelenting feelings come from an injury (or injuries) that hasn’t healed. Regardless of where your emotional injury comes from, you can learn to regulate your reactions, heal these wounds, take care of yourself, and connect to your sense of meaning and purpose. The more you live in alignment with your values and what is meaningful to you, the better you will feel.

Welcome! I am a deeply passionate and relatable therapist who helps women navigating perfectionism, people-pleasing, mother-daughter relationships, or body image struggles. For as long as you can remember you’ve been a natural caretaker or sensitive soul. You have always been the go to person when someone in your life needed help, or advice, but lately you feel a bit resentful, self-critical, and depleted. You want to show up with more ease and energy in your relationships but you are feeling guilty and struggling where to begin. It’s your turn, to give the care you so freely give to others, back to yourself.

As a therapist, my goal is to create a warm, safe, non-judgmental space for my clients’ self-discovery and healing. I support my clients as they build on their intrinsic skills and strengths so that they can navigate through difficult periods and life transitions in ways that foster growth and well-being. I believe that the strongest therapeutic relationships are built from trust, respect, transparency, empathy and equality. I counsel from a place of kindness, understanding and compassion through an anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens.

We often move through life so quickly or under so much stress that we lose touch with our emotions, desires, and natural capacity for healing. As a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience, I aim to provide a space where we can slow down and fully arrive in the moment together with compassionate attention. All parts of you will be welcomed within a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space. Working with me is a collaborative process where we will draw from various modalities– psychodynamic, somatic, experiential, and mindfulness based. I have worked with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including US Veterans.

Congratulations! You've taken the first step in a journey to the life you deserve. The thought of finding a therapist you trust, feel safe and comfortable with can be overwhelming but so is the alternative: living with fear, frustration, uncertainty, and confusion. I'm always amazed at the courage my clients show as they move from a painful existence to one of hope and joy as they gain the tools necessary to create the life they want. Change is Possible!

Your experience -- of yourself, your world, and your suffering -- is unique. My primary goal is for us to come to an emotionally rooted understanding of your particular experience together. When this occurs, habitual ways of dealing with life's challenges can begin to make sense and become more flexible, leading to greater feelings of choice and agency about living in the world.

Most of us don't choose to suffer. Most of us are suffering because no one ever taught us that we have a choice not to. If you have ever expressed any stress or sadness from looking in the mirror and telling yourself you "should" lose weight, make more money, or be any different than who you are now, then you are suffering the consequences of distorted thinking, and this is the time to take charge and change.

Putting thoughts and emotions into words can have surprising and powerful results. There is a freedom in saying out loud what we have withheld or only said or ourselves. We begin to see our world from new perspectives, develop new ways of being in the world, and begin to make new choices. The purpose of a therapist is to be the person in your life undergoing this process with you, as a companion and guide. This is how I understand my work.

Starting therapy is a brave step. It means facing yourself and the challenges life has thrown your way. The external world of everyday experiences, family dynamics, and social or workplace interactions can deeply impact our internal world and cause us to lose our balance. As your therapist, my aim is to help you find that balance. I am here to support you, tapping into your inner strength to help you function and feel better.

We are moved to seek mental health treatment when traditional methods of self-care are not enough, when life becomes too much to handle on our own. Regardless of your specific issues, we will be exploring the ways in which creativity (especially music) can help you meet the challenges you face. Through our artistic collaboration and talk therapy, we will be able to discover patterns of thought and ways of relating that may be transformed through greater self-knowledge. Being musically talented is not a prerequisite for music therapy, just experience with the immense depth of feeling that music provides.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in New York?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
