I practice from a trauma informed and relational cultural perspective that places high value on the relationship between therapist and client. Through an authentic, mutual, and collaborative approach I help my clients focus on the history of their relationships and how these relationships have lead to growth and fulfillment and/or isolation and suffering. I view every person as inherently whole and thus aim to lighten the emotional burdens that leave individuals feeling incomplete, broken, and/or dispirited.

I embrace a holistic mind-body approach to psychotherapy, which began with becoming a certified Iyengar yoga therapist/ instructor over 10 years ago, specializing in chronic illness/injury. Because this foundation, my integrative approach to clinical work is somatically-based, trauma-centered, and utilizes a neurobiological and attachment-informed lens grounded in social justice. I also utilize cutting-edge evidence-based practices like Flash for trauma. The most important relationship we can have is with ourselves. When we know who we are, we move from a place of authenticity. It impacts how we interpret the world and our place in it. Symptoms such as anxiety, depression, substance misuse, self-harm, isolation, or fear can inhibit our daily functioning. When we build a relationship with ourselves, we are more able to see how trauma impacts us and influences the choices we make.

Our early experiences begin to shape our thoughts, feelings, habits, and beliefs about ourselves in the world. When experiences are positive, successful and shared, we learn how to find satisfaction, connection, and support. When early experiences are overwhelming, the content (feelings, thoughts, sensations) can get stuck and replayed alongside later life events, making us feel worse than we think we should. For example, we might feel off-balance, angry, or fearful; we might think we are powerless, alone, unwanted, incapable, or in danger; and we might feel sensations in our body like tension, weakness, pain, or numbness.
