I have 38 years experience counseling people with relationship issues; couples with family and marital problems; parents needing help with teens; straight and gay/lesbian couples wanting a healthier relationship. Relationship problems trigger issues like low self esteem,depression, and anxiety. I believe that most unhappiness stems from one or more problem relationships. My ideal client is tired of others trying to control or change them through behaviors like criticism, nagging, threatening, blaming, and complaining. And, my ideal client is one who wants to stop using these same behaviors that are harmful to their relationships.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Bible and Religion from Anderson University. I completed my master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Indiana Wesleyan University. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. Additionally, I have post-graduate training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I have worked in residential facilities for at-risk youth, schools, prisons, churches and private practices.

Therapy can be a very personal journey and it takes a brave person to reach out for help. Over the years, I have seen how beneficial therapy can be when a client and therapist come along side one other and work together to solve problems, develop insight, and attain goals. What I have learned is that an empathetic, non-judgmental environment can bring about feelings of safety and lay the groundwork to do some very important therapeutic work. The therapeutic environment is very important to healing and the therapeutic relationship is a crucial part of this process.

With years of training and practice, I specialized in healing my clients emotional trauma, anxiety, stress and depression. I provide well-being coaching as well. I have over 20 years of clinical experience and specialize in treating women's issues, such as: post-partum depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship and career issues. My experience as a childbirth educator has enhanced my ability to treat the needs of post-partum women as they transition into motherhood. This journey is one that is often met with unexpected emotions and I help women identify these feelings so they can resolves issues that may complicate parenthood. I received an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis in 2003. Since then I have worked in various capacities in the mental health field in several states. It’s so rewarding to help people navigate their struggles and learn new skills to help them move through life more easily. My favorite moment in therapy is when something finally clicks for the client and all of the sudden a shift occurs. After being stuck and in so much pain there’s finally a new path that brings hope.
