Life is messy. That’s the motto I adopted a few years ago to remind myself that there is no such thing as perfect and rarely does everything go according to plan. My journey has taken me through a variety of messes…divorce, single parenting, job changes, remarriage and the blending of families, just to name a few. Although this isn’t the path that I planned to take, I am thankful for each step because of the healing and growth that accompanied it and ultimately led me to pursue my master’s degree in family and marriage therapy.

While every client is unique, I will work with you to uncover what it at the root of what is causing you to seek counseling. We will identify where you would like to be in life and what steps can be taken to achieve the path to a better life. I have experience working with individuals, couples and families.

Hello!! The right match between therapist and client can be one of the largest factors to therapeutic success. My view of the therapeutic relationship is that of a shared journey between client and therapist. I have been in private practice for ten years and I continue to be a "client" as well, which I believe gives me sensitivity and insights resulting in a non judging collaborative approach. I see therapy as an opportunity to use symptoms as a gateway to self discovery and growth, as a self actualizing process as we heal wounds, work through issues, and discover self potential.

I collaborate with adults in individual and relationship counseling. Typical issues we work on together are depression, anxiety, grief, addictions, eating disorders, LGBT concerns, ACOA issues, stress, men's issues, and if it a specific client request - spirituality concerns. I offer Wednesday, Friday and Saturday appointments by telehealth exclusively. Due to the convenience and popularity of telehealth, I hold all sessions via telehealth and no longer offer in-person office sessions.

I am Dr. Sylvia Kobe, and I am a Licensed Clinical psychologist. My associate Dr. Mary-Zitta Muabe and I collaborate to cover a broad counseling spectrum. Together Dr. Muabe and I specialize in marriage, family therapy, and spiritual maturity. We also work with teens, young adults, and individuals battling anxiety, depression, or struggles to cope with every-life issues. I have worked with many different presenting issues including adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, suicide risk, stress, loss, trauma, struggles with drugs and alcohol, family problems, child welfare, family problems, offenders, and relationship difficulties. The facility is located on a main street with free parking. This is a private practice with a private waiting room in a very comfortable & soothing setting. Look for the yellow house with raspberry trim. Hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. When you call, we will do a brief intake, verify your insurance benefits & schedule your first appointment. We do not have a waiting list and can schedule your first appointment within the same week.

I have wide-ranging experience both professionally and personally. I have been married to my wife for 32 years and we have raised three daughters. For the past 12 years, I enjoyed working with people seeking supportive services such as counseling and mental health referrals. While working with people in therapy, I utilize a strengths-based approach. I believe in meeting people where they are and providing educational as well as open social support with mental health needs.
