I have over 20 years of experience with a special focus on working with depression, anxiety, couples, family difficulties, career counseling, college planning, and work-related problems. I am a certified Cook County divorce mediator and trauma professional. Also, I specialize in conducting cognitive impairment tests and evaluations for older people regarding decision-making capacity and advance directives such as the living will, medical power of attorney, and Do Not Resuscitate orders(DNR).

My name is Dr. Mercy Abunaw, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C, DNP. As a healthcare provider, I am committed to helping my patients achieve total remission of their symptoms. I am a provider who will listen to you, understand your pain, and offer the best treatment advise, because that is what you deserve. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who has also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor(CADC) and a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology(MCP). Much of my training has been centered in client-centered theory and I also have specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In addition to being traditionally trained, I also incorporate​ a holistic, integrated approach toward psychotherapy which includes aspects of mindfulness and Eastern philosophy, providing individual, family and couples therapy as well as intervention work.
