Hello! A little bit about me...I tend to use a myriad of approaches when it comes to counseling, as I recognize that each person may need something different in their experience. I believe that every person is the expert on his/her/their own life, and I am simply another human sitting across from you specially trained to assist, validate, and empower you. I often work with children, adolescents, and young adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress/adjustment concerns, self-esteem issues, and trauma. I also specialize in helping individuals of all ages cope with the emotional strains that may come with experiencing chronic health conditions. My professional background includes working with a wide variety of clients from children to older adults. I have provided mental health and substance abuse outpatient counseling including individual, group and family therapy. I have worked with a broad range of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, adjustment difficulties, grief and loss, relationship problems, family conflict, mood disorders, personality disorders, psychosis, thinking disorders, codependency, domestic violence, self-esteem, women’s issues, spirituality, chronic illness, chronic pain, dual diagnosis, and addictions.

Professional Counseling Solutions is a program of Madison County Catholic Charities. Our two offices are located in Alton and Granite City. We accept insurance. We also offer a sliding fee scale for services based on household income. Our therapeutic team includes LCPC and LCSW therapists.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have 25+ years of experience working with individuals who are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, or other mental health or substance use disorders. In the fast-paced world we live in, we are constantly facing heightened feelings of stress caused by workplace, parenting, family, couple or other relationship conflicts. Unfortunately, for many, alcohol or drugs are used to “manage” the difficult times. It is my goal to help clients navigate their most complex feelings and to provide the tools and coping skills needed to return hope, inner peace and happiness to their lives.

I have been coming alongside individuals and families to provide understanding and motivation. I believe we are capable of finding peace emotionally and spiritually. I like using nature and activities in counseling along with art to help process our stories. We use metaphors in adventure therapy and interactive games in play therapy to grow in new ways. I have experience also as a coach, teacher, and youth leader. We have raised 2 children and had a foster son. I supervise Cathy who is a PLPC/CIT2 and enjoys working with women/teens. We all are skilled in interpersonal process therapy.

I am qualified to help clients with trauma using EMDR and TFCBT. I also have experience with addiction and substance use treatment. I have experience with couples, individuals, families, and adolescents.

Hello, my name is Rocky Mays and I am currently accepting new clients. I have a sliding scale depending on household income ranging from $80-$130. I offer in-person and virtual appointments in the afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays. I specialize in working with teens, adults, parents, veterans, seniors, and couples on a wide range of identified concerns. I am currently a counselor for the Federal Government. My experiences also include working with youth in the justice system, providing clinical services for treatment centers, and working with veterans and their families struggling with various conditions.
