I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor licensed by the State of Illinois. I have worked in numerous settings: Inpatient, Outpatient, a Substance Abuse Clinic, and in Churches. I have wide-ranging experience both professionally and personally. I have been married to my wife for 32 years and we have raised three daughters. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who has also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor(CADC) and a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology(MCP). Much of my training has been centered in client-centered theory and I also have specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In addition to being traditionally trained, I also incorporate​ a holistic, integrated approach toward psychotherapy which includes aspects of mindfulness and Eastern philosophy, providing individual, family and couples therapy as well as intervention work.

Across my experiences as a clinician, I witnessed universal aspects of what drew people to seeking help. Whether it was physical, mental, or spiritual hardship, many had a general goal from their hardships that also became universal. People wanted to be free of their pain, understand from it, and grow from it. Who doesn’t want to be healed from their wounds? Before we can grow, we first must understand our wounds. Understanding has always served as a foundation to the ongoing result we seek to flourish in, our growth.

We recognize how difficult it can be to seek help with mental health issues. Our goal is to meet you where you are in a supportive, encouraging way. We never use shame as a motivator. Instead we seek to provide a balance between giving you time and space to heal and challenging and encouraging you to move forward to a healthier place. Dr. RoseMary Cairo has been a clinically licensed therapist for over 20 years, and during this time she received her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. I worked in residential, hospitals, private practice, & in-house counseling. I facilitated group & individual supervision, parenting education, couples, groups, family, & substance use therapy. I have taught counseling courses and developed training curriculum.
