My goal is not just to help people have a better life here on earth, but to help people have a right relationship with God. Over and over again we see the connection between spiritual health and emotional, mental and physical health. While spiritual health alone does not make every problem go away...spiritual health is critical to bringing emotional, mental and physical health. Most of us have experienced feelings of hurt, disappointment, fear, rejection, loneliness, grief, guilt, and/or shame. These feelings may cause us to project an image that is not necessarily true to who we really are.

I am passionate about working with women that struggle with symptoms of anxiety and depression. Navigating motherhood, work and balancing all that life throws our way can be challenging. I provide a safe space for individuals to be their authentic self, teach methods of coping with emotions and support setting healthy boundaries to increase overall self-confidence. I also enjoy working with adolescents/teens and young adults that struggle with impulsivity, identifying and managing emotions, and learning ways of coping with challenges that they may face in school, at home or in the community.

Accepting new clients. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and backgrounds to develop individualized treatment strategies and use measurement-based techniques to ensure that we are on the right track. I am a proud Christian, devoted husband, and loving father to four children. I am a licensed and board certified Clinical Psychologist with nearly 20 years of experience providing psychological assessment, treatment and consultation to Department of Defense and other U.S. Government personnel across the world. I am a proud Army veteran, who served 11 years on Active Duty, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

It can feel difficult trying to figure out why our relationship with our partner is struggling. Not only is it difficult to see the root of the problem but it is also difficult being on the same page to try to find a solution to the problem. Maybe you are arguing over the smallest things and blowing it up into something much larger than you expected it to. Maybe you feel emotionally disconnected from your partner and you don’t know how to relight that spark. Maybe you find yourself not knowing what to talk to your partner about.

As a counselor, I have good days and bad days. I understand how it feels to go through turmoil, to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and experience the rainbow after a storm. Experiencing my personal traumas and personal victories has strengthened me to be an authentic and an empathetic counselor.I have learned that caring for myself is vital to my overall well-being. By caring for myself this ensures everyone in my life, including myself, receives the best version of me. I will not expect you to do anything I am not willing to do, and this includes being vulnerable.

The Wandering is different than most other counseling services. Why? Because I recognize that true healing is impossible with psychology alone. I believe Jesus must be at the center of all therapy. I incorporate Jesus into my therapy...and it works! There is a way out of whatever pain you are experiencing.

I believe that we are all placed in a specific place and time for a greater purpose. Life is hard and many of us lose our way and this leads to confusion, lonliness and often we develop addictive and maladaptive behaviors to deal with our issues. Our issues are real but we go about solving them in a nonproductive way. I help a client look at alternative ways of living often pulling from his strengths and encouraging him to incorporate spirituality as a guide. I am a Christ follower and incorporate His teaching into my own life and therapy.

My goal is to provide a warm peaceful environment so clients, can focus on their own personal growth and empowerment. I have worked in counseling for 30 years, and have helped many clients build a strong stable recovery lifestyle, or achieve other goals that have really improved their lives.

I have 15+ years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I have worked in outpatient care, residential treatment centers, and psychiatric hospitals. My special interests include anxiety and compulsive behavior disorders, personality disorders, bipolar disorders, addiction, depression, and grief. I am passionate about engaging people in a healing process that replaces shame with serenity and wellness.
