I know what it's like to struggle with the challenges of family, parenting, aging, grief, employment, marriage, life transitions, career loss, self fulfillment and purpose. Married for over 44 years, having owned a family business, I learned firsthand how to find purpose and peace in the midst of stress, depression, loss, anxiety and grief. I draw on personal experiences of raising children, marriage, owning a business, aging parents, loss of loved ones, major life transitions, depression, anxiety, addiction and stress. These life experiences give me a unique understanding and ability to help clients overcome similar challenges.

As a 20 year military veteran with multiple deployments I have insight and experience working with combat related Post Traumatic Stress and Military Family Life issues. I am also licensed to provide video and phone service for clients living in Idaho.

While I specialize in trauma focused work, I also love to help build resiliency and strengthen the protective factors we all need in our lives. I have a passion for helping parents to be more successful and helping children and teens to understand and cope with their emotions. I have worked in the field of mental health and substance abuse for 12 years. I have seen the power of a positive therapeutic relationship and the transformation that comes when an individual has support. I am dedicated to helping mainly women with various issues they face including; postpartum depression and anxiety, transitioning to motherhood, overall anxiety and relationship stressors. I have specialized training to aid in substance abuse recovery. I feel there is a strong need to also help families struggling to understand their loved one’s battle with addiction.

I believe that meeting a client where they are is important in the therapeutic relationship. I like to meet them where they are to help them become equipped with tools, strategies, and support from others. I use a variety of evidence-based approaches to create a treatment plan unique to the needs of each client. I enjoy helping individuals to draw upon and discover their own strengths and abilities as they overcome challenges life may throw their way.

I have over 14 years of experience working with families, couples, adolescents, and children. I offer individual, family and couples therapy for mental health and/or substance abuse issues. I specifically work with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and addictions. I understand the unique cultural nuances of the Polynesian community and provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care tailored to your needs.

Over the past 16+ years of full-time practice, I have developed a strong commitment to helping adults, children and teens heal from anxiety, depression, grief and trauma. Since completing my formal training in 2008, I settled in Utah, where I have worked extensively with adults suffering from trauma, depression, anxiety and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Regarding my work with children and teens, I have worked extensively with conditions like ADHD, Autism, learning problems, self-harm behaviors, and mood disturbance. A family-based treatment approach is very important, as the whole family needs to be involved.

I take a compassionate, supportive, non-judgmental approach to help clients let go of shame, find coping skills that work for them, improve communication, set boundaries, and discover thinking errors that contribute to keeping people stuck in maladaptive patterns. I have extensive experience working with anxiety, panic disorder, depression, trauma, PTSD, childhood abuse/neglect, rape/sexual assault (women and men), self-harm, and developing/strengthening healthy relationships. The approaches used are client centered and include a combination of narrative therapy, CBT, DBT, EMDR, REBT, ACT, among others.
